So last week I picked up this Honda for a good deal.

Quick details.

1985 Honda CRX HF 1.5 Liter Carburated motor originally from california.

330k original miles (lol)

Zero rust top to bottom underneath and inside out.

100% OEM not modified with anything as far as I can tell.

Got all the paperwork and docs with the car, for the most part including the original window sticker (haha !)

I'll have to take a pic of it, but its hilarious. Says 45MPG city and 51MPG Highway. That was a major reason, along with being rust free that I decided to buy the car.

Bought it for $1000

The first things done were bringing it to my friends garage and fixing the exhaust leak, might buy the whole exhaust later if it leaks again but for now its good.

Changed cap and rotor on distributor, have to order the spark plug wires online. Plugs are new too.

Changed thermostat, adjusted the headlights, replaced clutch cable and installed replacement front piece that I dont know what to call it.

See the pictures below: (haven't washed the car yet, will do soon as well as painting the piece I put on front.)

Just to be clear the white bmw in some of the pics isn't mine, somebody elses. and the guy in one or two of the pics isn't me its my friend who owns the shop and was helping me do the minor shits on the car.

My plans are to continue working on the fuckedup shit and cleaning up the car a bit more but not going too crazy, i want to sell the car for profit while saving money on gas in the mean time.

this thing is going to be hella show, base model civics's suck ass in the power department but as far as mpg goes my 90 dx hatch would go about 150 miles and would still be above the half a tank line, it was awesome, i could drive around for a bout 3 days on 10 bucks even when gas was at 3 dollars + i miss the gas millage on that thing

My crx on the other hand is a pig, it drinks gas but it still is pretty good, its a whole different ball park than the hatch but that's the price you pay for swaps lol
Max signature size is 750x180

@ Singh: Nice car! Do you happen to know what effect the carburetor has on the mileage? I typically thought that carbs got worse mileage than EFI, but I guess that isn't true for a small enough carb or engine.

@ Robban: Oh no, is your friend OK?

Yea, that is true and that's a good question we should all ask prius owners too.

You look at this engine and see honda pulled out all the tricks for getting better gas mileage, sucks in hot air to better atomize the air, ton of crazy vaccum lines going on and a bunch of shit i don't understand at all.

If they were able to get that kind of mileage , imagine what they could do these days with direct port fuel injection and all this crazy new shit we have, in a car this light i don't see how getting 100-120mpg would be an issue.

The CRX before this one got 69mpg, ridiculous.

So really its just a bunch of politics in my opinion why newer cars can't get good mpg's, they are very heavy and that does make up most of it, but its a little ridiculous IMO.

Tracked the mileage today on the fill up, got about 40 mpg so its not as impressive as i was hoping. the car is old as hell so i wasn't expecting top mpg's, but a little better than that.

I haven't been driving it very nicely either, and i let it warm up for a long time because its cold here and when it does that its at 3k rpm lol.
