I just got my first gaming laptop, and I'm pretty broke now. Decided to pick this game up. Is it still relevant?

You should ask that yourself lol. It's not about if a game is still relevant, if you want to play it then just play it :)
Be more specific next time ;)

Until I buy an Xbox One and get Forza Horizon 2, it has to be. :D

It's only relevant if it's relevant to you. We are still an active community though.

I feel famous, being visited by all of you big posters. Considering I can't afford anything except Ark now that I've gotten my parts, this game is going to be one of my favorites for a while. I've already built an RB powered M3 lol.

Take some screenshots of it and post them in the Show Off Your SLRR Rides thread so we can check it out.

Of course it's still a game! And a beautiful one at that! Too bad my game doesn't work anymore... :(

It is because it's unique. Building the cars this way is special and so funny ,especially (okay mods are 90% of this really but the base idea still started from the original game) when you start with a base car and slowly mod it , like heads/cam , turbo , running gear overhaul.. Just endless fun , and then there is drag racing. Also lots of fun.
This game is the exact opposite of what could be mainstream. But it carries the problems of being an unfinished game from 13 years ago. Crashes , is slow and "overloads" the PC. Worth it ? Probably not , I'm still undecided if , after many crashes , it's worth it. If I "make a comeback" , I'll probably end up making a kind-of-compilation based on LE2BB93 with very few mods (and almost no graphic ones). HUGE amount of time needed. Searching the mods is a PITA. And from a few months ago just a few mods have been added. Making something stable is also difficult (but admittedly not that impossible). I'd do it just for the fun of building a 302 in a Fox Body.
