I'm working on a project with a friend of mine who owns a shop.

We are swapping an S54 into an E30 M3. I never had the chance to drive or work on an E30 M3 before. For me, its a pretty cool experience than I'm very happy to be a part of.

The customer daily drives this car and does a few track days a year with it too.

Reason for the swap:

The car has approximately 300,000 miles on the chassis. I believe its on its second S14 ( NA 4 Cylinder ) and this second motor has been rebuilt a few years or so back.

Current setup:
I believe it has a 2.3 S14 currently. This motor should be making about 230hp and was reeving to 7800rpm.

The transmission is a 5spd G245 Getrag

New Setup:
The S54 is the engine that powers the E46 M3 and other cars like the M coupe of that time. 333hp at the crank, dual vanos, ITB's etc. I'm sure you all know about the engine so not worth getting too far into the details.

The transmission is the E46 M3 6spd. Both the engine and trans came out of an M3 with ~35,000 miles or so.

We will be fitting a light weight flywheel and clutch setup.

For the swap we use E36 engine arms, E34 M50 oil pan and pickup, custom wiring harness / engine tune etc. This will be a pretty straight forward plug and play setup.

Before we got started, we took the car out for a short drive and some quick pictures.

What is the stock/current engine for these cars if you´re specifying what engine would be the swap engine? Just curious.
In need of fixing small things on mods? You´re welcome!

I would've taken another non M E30 and swap it in there since M3 E30s are such rare
how to make a w.i.p. thread:
Show renders of Forza 4 rips; never put them ingame
do thousands of addon parts but in 128x128 texture
only dock map screenshots

I'm going to update the original post with more info, i was in a rush when posting it.

Added 9 minutes later:

So far we pulled the engine and transmission.

Next step will be removing the brake booster and swapping that out with a smaller booster that will clear the intake plenum better on the S54.
