I have an older PC and my battery hasn't been changed since it was bought. I'm able to turn It on but my screen almost goes black but I can see my screen giving the correct lighting. My question is would replacing the battery work or could it be hardware?

I can still see things on my screen but need to flash a flashlight on it or face it towards my window.. so don't think it's monitor but video card could be it, do you think maybe it could be my led bulb burnt out or is on its last leg?

I only have my tv an with the searching I've done that's had Little success but no harm in trying myself... I'm getting a new battery today an maybe get lucky an will fix the issue since the battery hasn't been changed in 7 yrs. I have a hdmi port an vGA port as far as connecting to an outside monitor.

This sounds like you are talking about a laptop, not a desktop?
If the image is on the screen but really dark, then it's either the backlight or inverter that's faulty.
The way to test it is to connect an external monitor via the VGA port... if that works properly then the problem is as I stated above.
Changing the battery will not fix the problem (I assume you have the charger plugged in?).
Plan like you will live forever, live like you will die tomorrow.
