Really excited , I finally ordered a 3D printer and I think i'll be very happy with my choice.

Ill update this thread more when I have time. I expect to post up pics of my models and prints here and get some input from everybody and I hope more people wind up getting these printers or making threads if they already have one.

I got the Rostock Max V2.

I had three big requirements and the biggest was price, $1000 maximum. The other two were big build volume and high precision and speed.

I decided that the traditional 3d printer design wasn't as good for my needs even though they may offer very big build volume.. I didn't like the way they moved the table (bed) back and fourth. It seemed like too much weight / mass shaking around for nothing.

I found the Delta design based 3d printers and realized that was my best choice.

From looking at printers that build up to 4 x 6 inches and ending up buying this printer that builds 11" diameter by 14" high.. I was very happy to find it.

I should be able to make everything I need to make for a long time before I buy a bigger printer.

My plans are to prototype parts for cars, and either sell the prints as the parts themselves or at least use them to fit and then send the design over to china to get mass produced for cheap. Then i'll sell the parts online on ebay and car forums etc. I have a few ideas in mind so stay around and you'll see some of them !

This kit has a 20 hour build time and I see most people taking 17+ hours building it.. so its going to be a long road of headaches and calibration etc but I'm willing to go through it.

To start.. I've ordered high and low grades of ABS and PLA (plant based material that feels like plastic) as well as spools of nylon, and this cool stuff called "ninjaflex" which is basically very strong and flexible rubber.

Wish me luck !

i'll keep you all updated.

mass produce dildos.
I've always wondered how strong the outcome really is? From what i've seen in videos, it looks very fragile.
In the other hand, people have printed working guns...

Well, like I said I got a bunch of different filament material types to test everything out with.

I'm not really concerned with the parts being strong enough.. I just want to be able to produce the part and make sure it fits 100% before I spend the money to get the design produced in mass quantities.

However, the nylon and other materials are proven to be super strong.. so i'll see how it works out. I think I may actually produce some pieces for sale directly from the printer if they come out well enough. From the quality of prints I see from this machine that others are able to achieve I think it is quite possible !

I have some car parts I would like to design, as well as some industrial parts for our roofing company that I plan to make and sell in an online store that would solve many of the problems we have today with our equipment failing.

The rubber filament is just for fun, might make some custom iphone cases for friends, wrist bands etc and hopefully as time goes on think of actual creative things to build.

ninjaflex is some cool stuff man, ive been watching a guy on the youtubes make a iron man suit of armor with a bunch of 3d printing, and he was showing a small demo on ninjaflex and for being extruded its super strong. a printed rubber band of the stuff about the same size as the old livestrong bracelets was so strong he couldnt get it to stretch more than like 4mm or so.
