Preparing the removal of the transmission (charge pipe removed, battery and tray, ABS out of the way etc..)

Speed and reverse sensors disconnected along with the shifter linkage and slave cylinder union

ball joint, axle and drop link disconnected. just clearing up space to drop the tranny down thru

subframe and rear link

testing if the homemade engine brace (not pictured) can support the weight of the engine and trans

trans removed, shitty dowel pins fought me the hole way through

the box itself

looks like the tapered set screw on the selector rod fell off as expected.

Instead of rebuilding I will be picking up another box soon along with a new hydraulic clutch line as I had to cut mines off

Picked up a trans yesterday

Luckily it came with the line to the slave so that saved me some time, heres a random photo after painting it

dirty... out with the old

Preparing the trans to swap over all the parts like the linkage, end casing, dowel pin, tripod, slave cyl etc..

End cap on

I decided to clean it up, the amount of grease and grime was driving me nuts

emptied a can of brake cleaner and compressed air onto it..not good enough

After power washing

still not good enough

Picked up some of this stuff, I went with the cast aluminum color

first couple coats

After swapping over all the goodies, linkage, speed and reverse sensors, tripods and filled with fresh oil. It got dirty again so I washed it some more

after

Now I just gotta find the time to put this all back together. I might be picking up an E46 in the mean time

If he'd be willing to drop his price down some more, I could fix it for a grand and sell for 45

Added 2 minutes later:

Here's a quick pic from my phone

4.6 northstar v8. It's not the dts, it's the less powerful 275hp version.
