Hi community,

As you know Street Tuning Evolution - Car Building & Racing failed. But as for me 34,689USD and 811 people is not bad start for new game.
But this topic not about the money but about people who willing to spend some time to do something big and useful.

As you know Unreal Engine become free and it is great platform for new games in general and current project not the exception. Even Street Tuning Evolution was planned to build on UE4 too. And it comes us to possibility make something cool without money and improve game dev skills and one not less important thing - share it with other young game developers.

As the first step as I see it would be to choose the name of new game. I will provide some short list but it will be extended based on your comments.

Every one can help!

Hey, I like your ambition for this but I see something like this unlikely to materialize.

From my experience and based on what I've seen, massive community projects like the one you're suggesting usually don't go so well. We have seen this attempted a few times in SLR history alone, not to mention how much it has been tried elsewhere.

The best bet right now is with CarTune, from wichur. With too many hands in one project, it gets messy and the sense of direction is lost. It's very difficult to manage projects like this, you can't do it all yourself but you can't have everyone help you either.

It's hard to explain, all I can say is, if you want , try it. Just giving you my opinion first.

I wouldn't worry about game names until there is something there first. Wichur didn't name his game until after there was some working demo of it.

I am do not worry about fail and do not wait success - I am looking on it as a process.

I have experience with open source and big projects with many developers so it isn't a big problem.

Name it is a start and I got it. But the first demo it is tricky ting and the main question - how many futures must be there. Because the first demo can be done with standard UE4 templates and that all :)

The main idea of this project - give the place to realize personal ideas with help of community which on the same wave. And it is much simpler to do with well documentation and supported platform like UE. And these will shared and can be reused by some one else.

I hope it's not too late to change the name because Unlimited Racing sounds kinda crap in my opinion. Reminds me (and I'm assuming other people too) of how many games have unlimited in the title but aren't all that ''unlimited'' or overall good.
I would suggest something like OpenTune: Redline (OT:R)
Open because of the game being open source and having freedom of customization,
Tune because there's tunning in it,
Redline because of the game it's based on and because it might catch interest from people who haven't been paying attention to SLRR lately.

Was quite tired when I came up with it so I'm sure that it can be improved but (for me anyway) it sounds a lot better than anything else suggested.

66ton99, how old are you and what are your experiences in developing a game?
Or even slrr, have you scripted/done significant upgrades to the game?
Right now i see this thread as another "dreamer" fantasy.
This will be forgotten in few days. It is sad, but that's how it is. Slrr is dying slowly. I hope beamNG will someday have a catalogue and garage layout system as slrr does and an actual career mode. Because this new nfs that is coming looks promising, but im 200% sure that physics WILL suck (animated drifting, driving and such), not to mention car damage that i suppose, will be next to 0.

in my oppinion there is "again" a small group, they dont think about first time..before they write down such ideas. Same like the MP mod for SLRR. Again a point with no finish aso..
