Hi Guys!

First of all the story:
I'm a big fan of Street Legal Racing, but until now i dont created any mod for this game. Just installed some mod that created by other guys, playing, and enjoying this grate game.

One month ago, i purchased the Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 on steam.
I really like the ideas in the game. I spent many hours with the game, and builded/restored grate cars, but at this point the story ends, because you cant pick your car for a spin in a city or a race track for enjoying your work, you cant race with anyone, you cant adjust your cars properties for a better result.

So i started to think... How bad it is you cant merge more games in to one, then born an idea in my mind:

Take the good things from Car Mechanic Simulator 2018, then add these things in to my favorite car building game, called Street Legal Racing.

I think, the first thing to do is the first person, free walking character movement in the garage. This is the base of everything.

Here is some video which is demonstrate my work:

Work in progress things:
- Add acceleration when you start moving
- Add sound effects
- Modelling CMS2018 level 1 garage

What do You think about it?

Its a great idea and looks really cool, but my question os how do you select the buttons if the camera center is "attached” to mouse cursor? Have you crestes a hotkey to change the mode?

Yes, You'r right.

At the moment i can switch between the "Install / remove parts" and "Tune" modes with the F1 and F2 keys.

I'd like to bring the controll mechanism from CMS.

that's a nice feature! Keep us updated, anything post here and for sure someone will ask you!

Added 6 minutes later:

Well, you can create a new java with all the button functions that's on garage, and put them in a new display like the computer feature on CMS, which you can access via a hotkey like you did with tune and install! For parts filters you can create hotkeys for them, put images on HUD with the keys for those things, this is just a concept I've made now in my head so it's a bit messed, but hope you understand it!

Hi Gorgoil!

I finished the first person mode for now, so i can start working on the control system (or i dont know how to call this).

My plan is to put the button controllable stuffs (catalog, map select etc.) to objects in your garage. (btw i want to replace the garage, if these thigs is working)

For example if you walk to the garage door, and you press an action button the desired action is start. In this case the map chooser is come up.

For catalog, you must walk to a computer, if you want do car specific actions, you can walk to the car etc etc...

For sure, we need a totally new hud, which is designed for this new control mechanism. :)

I understand your concepts, and thank you for your interests, and thinking about it. :)

What do you think about my concept?

And do you think there are others who can want this mod and/or help me to finish this? :)

I dont know how popular game is this nowadays. :)

Yeah I understand your concept, there's a lot of people who wants new SLRR versions with new features, and this one is a great one, now about people able to help you to finish it I don't know no one, because the ones who could help are working on their on game versions too(like Raxat, Amilmand, etc) I would like to help but I'm busy working on my game version too!

For that concept I think the best way for SLRR is using some box triggers for those actions, example: you create a box trigger near to door garage when you walk to that trigger it will open a dialog text where you say yes or no about going out of the garage which sent you to the track selector

Jónapot kívánok kedves Bence uram :)

Concerning popularity I can give some info:
I uploaded a modpack(very "buzz" description, lot of stuff, people should get interested who check these sites(to dismiss it as fake if not anything else)) not long ago(a month or so), current interest can be kind of deduced form the stats there, I attached some unlisted youtube videos, I think more people will click a youtube video than read even one line of text so theres that and the stats are relatively free from youtubes meddling (meaning youtube didnt give natural views only people from the sites should have gotten to the videos), anyhow there were around 500 unique views on the most popular of the videos which seems to reinforce the around 700 total downloads the sites measured.
So interest(playerbase) is sortof there but the active community is quite slim.(500 regular players would be top 400-500 most popular game in steam)

As for help if you have some specific things I can surely help (especially if its more of a technical thing, currently I think I have a pretty good understanding of the games data files and the java engine)

Which i know is i can get the "player" (camera) position, so i can make event listeners to monitoring if player is in the correct position to trigger an action.

Do you know a better solution?
Which game version is the best base for a mod like this?
I'm using 2.2.1 stock, and MWM installed. :)

You can get the camera rotation with a getOri() call on the camera GameRef this way you can even get if they are looking at the thing aswell.
If you dont already have them you will need the original "system" sources for the class files: (this includes the source for the GameRef.class aswell (the most interesting functions are implemented in the exe though but atleast you will get all the valid function signatres))
LINK

I would stick with the MWM one most of the mods I think are for that version.
