Avoid Alienware, because you're paying for a rebranded Dell with slightly better cooling and a shinier package. Avoid Apple, because they're simply worthless to anyone slap smarter than a chimp. Same goes for Sony (epsecially the VAIO line). HP, Toshiba, try avoding those too.

# Jaziba : LOL thanks David for digging up my pics and specs :D I was about to do the same.

I never knew your specs, but seeing the price thats on it makes me feel bad. I mean you pay 200-300 more then me and you have 4GB RAM more then me. That beeing the only thing thats better.

- Non HD vs Full HD
- GT525m 1GB vs GT555M 2GB
- 5400rpm HDD vs 7200rpm HDD (both 500GB)
- Regular DVD burner and player vs Bluray Player and Burner
- Regular Onboard audio vs Bang & Olufssen

Thats why for laptops I never want anything but ASUS, you get alot of bang for your buck, whilst design is not always the prettiest you get a good laptop overall.

Consider the fact that there was a good half-year time difference and prices quite literally crashed. Also, we both got them from different vendores in different areas of Europe. More or less the same price, but yours outperforms mine. At least I've got more RAM.

Oh and I always wanted to say that I was a fanatic DESKTOP user. But after buying a decent laptop I can tell you that in the end the LAPTOP will be worth the money because without too much hassle you can pick it up take it with you and have a good gaming match or w/e anywhere you want. Something you cant do with a dessktop, I dont like the feeling i have to "sit" behind a desk to use the computer.

Ye well 4GB is enough, i made a couple of Virtual GBs available but i never had any problems with "just" the 4GB i have.

And the rest of it compensates for it really well.

No. Simply no.

As far as gaming goes, anything short of an Alienware M18x/M17x or Origin EON-17S/XLS is unsatisfying compared to a desktop.

Yeah, you can play Counterstrike and DoTA and LoL and WoW all that, but you'r still playing on a tiny screen and you still can't run the heavy hitters like Crysis or Battlefield 3 properly.

Consider this, having yur entire PC and screen within the 3KG range and portable enough to be in a bag/bacppack vs. 22-37" monitor with a 5-10KG case then a seperate keyboard and gaming mouse and power supply and cables.

Sorry Imma take the laptop bro, @home it always connected to my 37inch LED and at school 15inch is enough to type and whilst on a break its good enough to game.

Absolutely, when you absolutely have to be on the move, you have no other choice for gaming. Except handhelds, but handhelds suck dick, so you have rely on laptops.

Still, the only true gaming experience will be on a desktop.

Depends, I mean define "true gaming experience".

For me this means beeing immersed into a game by gameplay.

Playing a game on the TV helps me to get into it, but it's not the only factor for me. Does the game look decent? Does it run smooth enough to be played like it should?

All these things help to get the "true gaming experience" for some time now (actually after I stopped playing BF2 because my clan quitted) I havent been playing FPS games, so I<< dont need a good mouse surface for fast reaction nor a big screen to spot all my enemies. I mainly do school work and 3DS and some other RACE games now an then. Playing a game that is fun is the "true gaming experience" not a big gaming rig or w/e.

pt Portugal

look for the brand CLEVO models p150hm, p170hm. they are a little bit more expensive but you can get good specs for them. they are also upgradeable which means that you can change hardware when you want and they have good cooling.

My point precisely. It should look decent and perform well. On a laptop it won't look decent or perform well. You'll have to pick one or the other. Sure, you can play games, but playing on a small screen and having to compromise performance for quality (or viceversa) kills it. It's not about having a big rig, though that's an enjoyable part of its own.
